This is one of my favorite songs ever, an anthem for my late childhood and early teenage years, a bittersweet memory of a Summer spent in a swing in the countryside, listening to a nearby town local radio station, an early Autumn MTV revelation and maybe an annoying chorus for my family who had to listen to it over and over again. But it’s also a song that has meaning wherever and whenever I listen to it, it never gets old. However I don’t see to the Moon and back as a way of showing somebody how much you care or a path you have to cover to achieve happiness. Sometimes love is immeasurable and joy can be found just by crossing the street. And I would definitely not want to be taken to the Moon and back, I don’t think my heart would bear that, I’m too much of a chicken to even ride a carousel. But staring at the Moon and the stars on a warm Summer night makes me feel infinite though small, just as swinging in the Summer night breeze made me feel like I was flying… to the Moon and beyond from the swing in front of the kitchen. This is just one of those songs.
